A digital invitation is an event invitation in the form of a web page that you share as a link, usually over WhatsApp. From one link, guests can read the event details, open the location map, save the date and confirm attendance (RSVP) — without installing any app.

Features worth having

Feature Essential? Why it matters
Event name, date, time Essential The first thing guests look for
Location with a map button Essential Guests can start navigation straight away
Countdown Recommended Reminds guests without follow-up messages
Attendance confirmation (RSVP) Recommended Helps you plan catering and seating
Photo gallery Optional Adds atmosphere, especially for weddings
Background music Optional Make sure it can be muted and is properly licensed
Opening envelope or cover Optional Feels like opening a real invitation
Agenda and attendee registration For corporate events Conferences and gatherings need a session schedule

The eight themes in our digital invitation gallery (in Indonesian) show how these features are combined differently for a wedding, an engagement, Indonesian family celebrations, a birthday, a graduation, a reunion and a corporate event.

Protecting privacy

Invitations often include full names, family photos and home addresses. A few simple steps:

  • Include only what is needed. The venue address is enough; there is no need for a home address if the event is held elsewhere.
  • Ask for the page to be kept out of search engines (noindex), so the invitation can only be opened through the link you share.
  • Be careful with children's photos. Consider images that do not clearly show faces or the home.
  • Remove or disable it after the event if you do not want it to stay accessible.

Tips for sharing on WhatsApp

  • Send personal messages, not just to groups. A personal message feels more courteous, especially for elders and guests of honour.
  • Add a short introduction before the link, such as a greeting and the event name, so it is not mistaken for spam.
  • Send a reminder a day or two before the event, using the same link.
  • Check the link preview (the title and image shown when the link is sent) before sharing widely.

Digital or printed?

Digital invitation Printed invitation
Cost per guest Almost nothing once made Rises with every copy
Delivery speed Instant Has to be delivered or posted
Changing details Can be updated any time Needs reprinting
RSVP Straight from the page By phone or message
Impression on elders Depends on guests' habits Often seen as more formal

Many families use both: a digital invitation for most guests and a few printed invitations for elders or guests of honour.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a digital invitation cost at PintuWeb?

From IDR 150,000 for an invitation from our theme gallery (range IDR 150,000 – IDR 450,000, ready in 1–2 working days), and from IDR 1,000,000 for an event website or bespoke design. Invitations stay active for 12 months with no renewal fee. Service details are on the Digital Invitation page.

Do guests need to install an app?

No. The invitation opens in the phone's browser like any web page.

When should a digital invitation be sent?

Many people send it a few weeks before the event so guests can plan, then send a reminder close to the day. Adjust to your family's customs and the type of event.
